Konstantin Melnikov is one of the most brilliant architects of the 20 th. Constructivism that emerged in the 20th chose the functional- constructive base of the architectural constructions as the main style idea. Scientific achievements, new materials and technologies were rapidly introduced in early 20th, affecting the general style-forming processes. A new type of an architect has appeared- a scientist-designer-artist.

It has become the most important feature of modern architecture determining its stylistic unity and plasticity language. At the initial stage emphasized unification, simplification and lack of decorative elements were typical of the new style. Later on, this new form was stimulatory to creation. New technologies appearing at that time gave rise to new architectural thinking. Naturally, at a certain stage of the Constructivism development the number of ideas far exceeded the capabilities of their implementation. For most part the creative concepts of Constructivism of the 20th have never been implemented although many outstanding architects turned and now turn to its ideas. Moreover, subsequent development of architectural styles still draws on the ideas of the 20th, developing and enriching but not rejecting them.
